Final Evaluation
1. What was the project that you were set for assignment 3 (learner project)?
My assignment 3 was the learner project so I could design a website for whatever subject I would like.
2. Did you have to change any of your ideas before you made your final product?
I wanted to make it in html as if it was real website using html5 and use animated background and assets, but because of the time restraints, I could not achieve this but I would like to in some time in the future.
3. How successful is your completed website? Did you receive positive feedback? You should include some quotes from your feedback here.
I currently do not have feedback at this current moment.
4. How smoothly did the project go? What is your favourite element / asset?
The development of my website went relatively smoothly, because I got the colour scheme (black, orange and purple) from my logo that I used to develop the rest of the site. The fact that I used Inkscape a free vector graphic design software that I used to develop my site helped a lot. Then I made it in to an interactive PDF, I did this because that share similar formats and that have smaller file size than bitmaps and the formats is similar to real websites.
5. What did not go so well? Were there any complications?
The only problems I have was a minor display issues with the text due to the PDF conversion of some pages. This problems where created by using the font thickness that increases the thinness of the vector version of the graphic not the physical text you can interact with, this makes them to show twice if you try it edit to PDF.
6. Is your website technically good? (How well does it work? Do the links take you to the right pages? Is it conventional? etc.)
All the hyperlinks on the interactive PDF works and they send you to the right parts of the site, I made the links on Adobe Acrobat. Is it logical? How would a user engage with it? However, the sites design is more on the unconventional side.
7. Is your website creative?
Yes, I personally think that my website is creative despite the fact that I mimicked the style of the three website that I was told to research. I did this because that was necessary for the getting the marks for this work. I purposely chose very different web sites so I was able to have freedom that is more creative.
8. Is your website aesthetically pleasing? Does it look inviting?
I personally think so and the website has been designed to be as multiplatform as possible so anybody can access it. I made s that the text much higher contest to the background meanwhile keeping the colour palette of black purple orange and white which looks pleasing to the eye.
Background colour pallet:
9. What was the feedback on your completed video? Did you receive positive feedback? You should include some quotes from your feedback here.
I currently do not have feedback at this current moment because I have not yet finished but I need to resync audio and re-export the video and re do the voiceover so it more clear.
10. What are the advantages and disadvantages of adding a video to a website?
The advantages are that it is an easy way to display info with narrative (using timing), the fact that you can uses sound, and it is more appealing than a box of text. A disadvantage is the size of video and using it on different devices (loading).
11. What might you do differently if you were to do the task again?
If I were to do this differently, I will try to use a more simplistic and brighter aesthetic. Why?
12. What software, hardware and applications did you use to create your website (and the individual assets)? Think about filming, creating assets, making the website, etc.
The main peace of software is Inkscape that is a free vector graphic creation tool for pc; I used this to create all my assets as well as all my web pages as well, as it can be directly displayed on most web browsers and be converted to PDFs with no real problem. I converted the pages to PDFs and combined them with Adobe Acrobat, then I cut the pages to size and hyperlinked them. So that on the finished product you can navigate the site properly as if it was a real site.
13. What image and video file types did you use? (mention original video file formats and also the one you used to export final work – you need to add some print screens of the file settings)
For the website graphics. I used SVGs that are a basic vector format that’s has been used on many modern websites.
for the bitmap images of my work I used JPEGS because there bitmap and they have much smaller file size than other bitmap and formats and there supported by all modern web browsers.
SVG file: PNG file:
WAV file (sound) MP4 file (Video):
final PDF file:
14. What pre-production paperwork did you have to complete? Why? How did knowledge of the documentation make your production easier? Safer?
Before I started the project I needed to do some pre-production paperwork such as a talent release so I can use my own voice as a voice over in the video, I also needed to do a risk assessment to analyse the risks doing my work. I also need to do a Recce and Release documents so I can use W9 to make my product

Video file types and settings
Resolution
SD: (640 × 480) this is Standard Definition.
Wide VGA or WVGA: (640+ x 480) theses are usually used on mobile phones.
720p: (1280 x 720) this is High Definition but most people these days state this this is only Standard Definition.
1080p: (1920 x 1080) this is True High Definition but most people these days state this this is only High Definition.
2.7K: (2704 x 1520)
4K: (3840 x 2160)
8K: (7680 × 4320) the current highest ultra-high definition television resolution this is incredibly uncommon.
8K Fulldome: (8192×8192) the resolution of top-end modern projection for hemispherical fulldome theatres.
The reason you don’t use 4K for everything is the much higher cost of the equipment (cameras) you use to create the video, as well as the much larger file size and when editing the file some program struggle with the larger size. When you on your phone you don’t really need the higher quality it is just a waste unless you put it on a much higher resolution display output.
File types
These are some common video formats.
Webm: Royalty-free format created for HTML5 video. - Universal
FLV: Flash Video. - Universal
Avi: Audio Video Interleave. – Windows
Mov, qt: QuickTime File Format. - Apple
Raw: Supports all resolutions, sampling structures, and frame rates and no video coding. - Universal
wmv: Windows Media Video. - Windows
nsv: Nullsoft Streaming Video very uncommon used nowadays. - Universal
mpg, mp2, mpeg, mpe and mpv: these are fairly old, but there are still widely used. In addition, all nearly identical. - Windows
Applications
These are some common programs used for generating video-based media:
Premiere pro: a industry-leading video editing software, that can edit virtually any type of media and alows you to create professional productions for film, web and TV.
Windows moviemaker: you can quickly turn your photos and videos into movies. you can add transitions, special effects, sounds in to your final piece.
These are some common devises used for orbiting video-based media from the real world:
DSLRs: (digital single-lens reflex camera) this kinda camera allows you to have much more control than almost all other kinds of camera.
Handycams: a brand name of a range of Sony camcorders, and the camera has a palm size design that is much easier to hold single handed.
